Whether it is to boost academic achievement or teaching important social skills, schools are increasingly seeing the value of social and emotional learning (SEL). Selecting the right program, however, can be challenging. OmmWorks benefits students, educators, staff, and improves school culture. We provide trainings, experimental workshops, instructional materials, and an accessible interactive digital library for educators. Our program is supported by research and transforms classroom and school culture. Since our curriculum is CASEL aligned you know you are choosing the right SEL program for any age.
Social emotional learning is how students learn techniques to process and manage emotions as well as essential social skills. It encompasses everything from goal setting to stress management, and it provides both children and adults with tools they can use to express themselves authentically and appropriately. SEL is critical for building healthy relationships, communicating effectively, and living a meaningful life.
When integrated with an academic curriculum, SEL facilitates engaged classroom participation and retention of concepts.
Research shows that SEL provides major benefits in schools. A meta-analysis of 213 studies found that it not only increased test scores by 11 percentile points, but it also reduced aggression and emotional distress among students, increased helping behaviors in school, and improved positive attitudes toward self and others (Durlak et al., 2011).
You cannot separate learning and well-being. Well-being is essential for learning and OmmWorks Curriculum provides the tools and techniques students need to promote overall well-being. By practicing OmmWorks just 10 minutes per day, students are not only more focused and engaged learners, but they also get connected with their unique gifts; as well as recognize the gifts in others, cultivating an environment of trust, respect and collaboration that radiates to all aspects of the student’s life as well as positively impacting the entire school community culture.
Not only does OmmWorks benefit students, but Teachers too! Professional Development Experiential Workshops and Trainings guide educators to learn, inspire and teach OmmWorks evidence-based practices to promote mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing in their lives and their students. OmmWorks helps uncover the underlying reasons behind poor behavior, enabling the teacher to provide tools and techniques to assist, and will create an environment that works well for children of all abilities.
Do YOmmWorks changes your school’s culture. Your entire school and agencies will benefit by cultivating an environment of trust, respect, connection, communication, and collaboration that radiates to all aspects of the student’s life as well as positively impacting the entire community culture.
Schools implement OmmWorks’ curriculum into their Physical Education Classrooms, Health Courses, Establish Wellness Units, Create Extra-Curricular Activities, Clubs, Counseling Sessions, Social Skills Training, Whole Group Lessons, Small Group Lessons, and so much more. The possibilities are endless.
Observing mindful meditation and movement does not start or end in the classroom or clinic; parents and family members also play a key role in students well-being.
OmmWorks serves parents by providing skills to improve sleep, organization, focus, communication, connection, and better awareness of feelings in the self and others. In the Do Your OmmWork Guidebook utilizes practical tips and tools to continue the journey to self-discovery and success. Chopra Certified Instructor Health and Chopra Certified Instructor, Yoga, Health and Wellness, Author of Do Your Ommwork!, Cognitive Active Wellness Practitioner, Professional Development for Educators, Continuing Education Provider for Social Workers & Clinicians,. Yoga Alliance ERTY 300, Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider YACEP,
I have always been very passionate about our youth and wellness. Through my work with kids and families I have lived and worked with diverse populations culturally, socioeconomically and education levels and feel deeply connected with all. I recognize when kids connect with vision, purpose, and others, they feel a sense of success and enthusiasm toward learning and life. My first company, Power Tots founded in 1985, taught dance, gymnastics, yoga and the power of a positive attitude to children in daycares and schools. It was sold and is still a thriving business today. I have combined all my teachings from my Mom Agnes, Gary Pate, my dance teacher, world meditation and mindfulness expert Deepak Chopra and The Chopra Center with my professional dance background and 30+ years of working with families and children to live my true purpose in life through creating powerful, positive programs that inspire and teach. I currently live happily in Northern California with my husband, 4 kids and dog Brucey. I enjoy spending time with family & friends, connecting with others and being at the beach.
